French Fried Onion Rings

INGREDIENTS
  • 2 large onions, sliced into rings
  • 3 cups chickpea flour (gram flour)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne
  • Oil for frying

METHOD
Slice the onions into 7 millimeter / 1/4 inch slices and separate into rings. Take 1 cup of the chickpea flour and sprinkle over the sliced onions. Mix the remaining ingredients adding enough water to make a fairly thick batter. Dip each onion ring into the batter and place in 5 centimeters / 2 inches of hot oil. Fry each side until golden. Place on a paper bag to drain. The amount of batter needed will depend on the size of the onion. Salt and pepper to taste.

The Children Love it. If you have picky snackers, just slice the onions thinner.Battering the onions is the only time consuming. Any hints?
