In a blender, blend the remaining ingredients, except the linguini. Pour this mixture into the pot with the onions and mushrooms. Simmer and stir frequently until sauce thickens.
In a separate large pot, boil 4 quarts / 4 L of salted water with a dash of oil. Bring to a rapid boil and add the linguini. Cook until tender. Drain noodles well in a colander. Then place the linguini into the large pot of sauce and stir. Serve.
