The Best Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies Ever

INGREDIENTS
    • 2 cups unbleached white flour
    • 2 t baking soda
    • 1/2 t sea salt
    • 5 T cocoa powder
    • 1/2 t cinammon
    • 3/4 cup semi sweet chips (i use tropical source)
    • 1/3 cup water
    • 3/4 cup turbinado sugar
    • 1/4 cup brown rice syrup
    • 1 t vanilla extract
    • 1 T cocoa powder
    • 1/2 cup olive oil

METHOD
Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl.

In a separate bowl mix wet ingredients. I try and mix the water and sugar up together real well to reduce the large crystals some.

Add wet mix to dry mix and stir together real well. Using your hands is the easiest. Batter will be quite stiff, and somewhat oily.

It's easy to shape the cookies since they don't tend to stick to your hands. Make about 1 inch / 2.5 cm balls and then form them into cylinders. They should be maybe 1.5 inches / 4 cm in diameter and maybe 1/2 inch / 13 mm thick. They don't spread much when they cook either - I can put 16 on a normal baking sheet.

Bake at 350F/180C for 12-14 minutes. Let cool on baking sheet a minute or two and transfer to wire racks or a plate to cool.

Makes 24 cookies.

I don't usually cook them as long just enough to let them rise up and kick melt-y chocolate butt! These cookies are really the best vegan cookies I have ever had, everyone is always asking me to make them for them, one friend even faked a birthday to get some of these chocolately treats!

Okay, I followed the directions carefully, and the dough was very thin and runny. So I added some oatmeal to bulk it up, and they turned out alright. A little bland maybe, but a good chocolate fix.

For the best chocolate chip cookies ever, just follow the recipe on the back of any dark chocolate chip package, but substitute 3 tsp soy milk for the egg. No one will know the difference, but your vegan friends will love you.

This is a most excellent recipe. I used mollasses instead of brown rice syrup though, as I did not have any

I am just about to make the cookies but wondered why there are 2 places where the cocoa is used. I am thinkning it is just keping the dry separate from the wet..but confused..
