Smoky Crunchy Tempeh

INGREDIENTS
  • 1/2 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 125 grams / 4 ounces tempeh of your choice, sliced very thin
  • 2 teaspoons liquid smoke
  • 3 teaspoons soy sauce or tamari

METHOD
In a frying pan, heat the oil until quite hot. Mix the liquid smoke and soy sauce in a small bowl. Add the tempeh slices and fry on both sides until brown and crispy. Add the liquid mixture and cover with a lid.

If you have a window in your kitchen, I recommend sticking the frying pan out of it. This will smell up your house. After making this once, my friend's roommate said she swore someone snuck into their house, cooked bacon, and left.

This is best served on toasted wheat bread with lettuce, tomato and vegan mayonnaise (or mustard if you must).


NOTES
250 grams of tempeh makes four sandwiches. I think these are better than BLTs, which I never liked.
