Bulgur-Mushroom-Pecan Burgers

INGREDIENTS
    • 1/4 cup bulghur
    • 1/2 cup boiling water
    • 1/4 lb / 115 g mushrooms, chopped
    • 1/2 onion, chopped
    • 1 clove garlic, minced
    • 2 t oil
    • 1/2 lb / 225 g tofu, mashed
    • 1/4 cup pecan meal or chopped pecans
    • 1 t savory
    • 1 T soy sauce

METHOD
Preheat oven to 350F/180C. Add bulghur to boiling water and simmer for 20 minutes (hmm, I usually just take it off the heat and cover, sit aside for 20 minutes). Saute the mushrooms, onion, and garlic in the oil. Mix all ingredients and form into burgers. Arrange on an oiled baking sheet and bake 15 minutes per side till browned.

NOTES
Ok, this I haven't tried, but most of Louise Hagler's stuff is right on... sometimes a bit too wet. Anyway, here's one from her book "Meatless Burgers", has a bit o' tofu. I posted one within the last month that was beet/frozen thawed tofu too, that's really tasty.
