The Best Fish and Chips

INGREDIENTS
    • 1 block tofu
    • Mild vinegar
    • Tartare sauce (optional)
    • Beer batter
    • Oil for frying
    • Chips
    • Peas

METHOD
The best fish and chips I know is made from tofu:

Buy a block of tofu. Press it under a weight to press out excess liquid. Cut into fish finger sized pieces. Then soak it in a mild vinegar. Optionally coat in another sauce, such as tartare. Make a quantity of vegan batter, preferably using beer for liquid. Dip the pieces in the batter and deep-fry. Serve with home-cut thick chips and peas.

nice recipe and all, but tartare sauce is made from mayonnaise and therefore pasturised eggs, cooking that stuff'll give u salmonella.

Maybe just dip em in it afterwards?

Or you could make some with vegan mayonnaise?

Mayonnaise made with pasturized eggs should not give you salmonella.
Egg products,dairy are pasturized (heated to a certain temperature) to eliminate/drastically reduce bacteria or if ultrapaseurized completely sterilize the product.
