Curry Paste

INGREDIENTS
    • 1 onion, chopped
    • 1 t minced ginger
    • 1 t cumin seeds
    • 1 t poppy seeds
    • 1 t turmeric
    • 1 t coriander powder
    • 1 t garam masala
    • 1/2 t chilli powder
    • 1 T tomato puree

METHOD
Fry the ginger and cumin seeds with the onion. Add the poppy seeds, fry a little more, and add the turmeric, coriander powder, garam masala, chilli powder and tomato puree.

NOTES
This is also cheaper in the long run than buying ready made curry paste although the initial outlay on the spices can be much less if you buy reasonable sized amounts from an asian grocery or "continental food store" as they call them here on Tyneside!

By the way, this is a great recipe Mr Falafel and we ate it in this amended form 3 weekends running!

Finally! A good recipe for curry paste! Thankyou so much. I have been meaning to master the use of spices to make a decent curry and this paste with vegies and a can of coconut milk made a fantastic dinner. Thankyou.

I am really chuffed that now i can make a curry for my son who has numerous allergies that he can enjoy!
