Beware vegans - hoisin sauce is made with seafood. In fact, that's what hoisin (Mandarin: Hai3xian1) sauce means - seafood! You might be able to find a vegan substitute, but you need to make 100% sure.

I haven't been able to find anywhere that sells vegan hoisin sauce, but I did find this recipe for it on afv - http://www.vegan-food.net

If anyone finds a store that sells some, let us know!
